Mark Studies at Oxford

Monday, June 30th, 2008 11:21pm

I just want everyone to know how proud I am of my brother. I’m actually pretty proud of both of them, but Mark gets top billing this time around.

Back mid last semester, he was selected by UK’s English Speaking Union to travel to England to study at Oxford for a month this summer. It’s a full ride over to England, complete with room and board, and I think there’s even time to go sight-seeing later in the month. He flew over Friday (our time) and arrived at Oxford on Sunday (his time). Anyway, so he’s posting a blog to let us know what’s going on. Unsurprisingly, he’s well versed when it comes to writing. We need to work on his dynamics a bit, though. ;-)

Seriously, though, this is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I can’t say enough about how proud I am that he’s been afforded this chance. Go, Mark!

Hobbies

Saturday, November 10th, 2007 10:05pm

Since I am eternally lacking in topics for me to write about, I figured I could start blogging about my newest hobby. It occurs to me, however, that I like to bounce between hobbies.

Josh Hancock: 1978 - 2007

Monday, April 30th, 2007 10:41pm

It’s odd how you process things. My brother called me Sunday morning to let me know that he was coming back in town. He had just made a surprise visit to Lexington from Dallas to propose to his girlfriend. He called me to ask me where to drop off the car he borrowed from Mom and Dad, and to tell me that the Cubs - Cardinals game scheduled for that night was postponed. He off-handedly mentioned that a Cardinals pitcher had been in an accident. The last time the Cardinals postponed a game for something other than weather was in 2002 when Darryl Kile passed away of coronary atherosclerosis. Funny enough, I didn’t think much of it. Why? Heck if I know. A postponed game in Major League Baseball isn’t that big of a deal. It was a few hours later when I started seeing headlines that the enormity of the situation hit me. The Cardinals lost yet another young pitcher. The second time in 5 years.

MLB Changing Hats

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 11:59am

Well, it’s time for the MLB to something else to change baseball around. Guess it’s just that time of the year… Pitchers reported to Spring Training a week ago. Position players are due in this week or next. Steroid allegations are soon to start, I’m sure. Interestingly enough, instead of cleaning up their players’ endocrine system, they’re going to help clean the sweat off their brow

Looks like MLB is getting new caps. Guess that means that I need a new St. Louis Cardinals cap. This one’s pretty cool. I never saw that before. My birthday’s on Saturday if anyone’s reading this blog. Otherwise, oh well.
